Welcome to this auction for my unique Vauxhall Calibra stage rally car, it was listed a few weeks ago but despite huge interest the sale fell through in the end.
The full specification is listed below and please bear in mind that this is no home build special but a proper rally car utilising many works group A parts and prepared to near works standards. Viewing is highly recommended, you won't be dissapointed. ( But if you're interested enough to view you will want it! )
BODYSHELL
Originally built from a new shell by saftey devices for turret motors of Sheffield in the late 90's. Fully seam welded multipoint rollcage with twin rear diagonals, twin roof diagonals,twin door bar diagonals, front strut reinforcement and rear diff pick up. In sill jacking points. Lightweight bonnet, doors, tailgate and bumpers. No major accidents. Paintwork just freshened professionally.
ENGINE
Vauxhall 3.0 V6 from Omega. Standard bottom end with rod bolts. SBD cams, lightly worked heads and inlet tract. 3 layer steel headgaskets and ARP head studs. MBE fully programmable ECU just mapped (March) and dyno tested at 250 BHP. Alloy sump and cam covers. Remote oil filter. 10 row oil cooler. Skeleton ultra light steel flywheel.Twin plate 61/4 " paddle clutch. Light weight crank pulley.Alloy water header tank. custom 3 row radiator (complete with identical spare) . Magnecore plug leads. Samco hoses.
TRANSMISSION
Quaife 5 speed F20 dog box just rebuilt ( 40 miles) with new 4.85:1 cwp complete with heavy duty quaife turret, brass finger and quaife internal gear linkage. Quaife ATB front diff. Highly modified transfer box with custom made cross shaft and uprated VC (4wd handbrake release) large ZF rear diff with plate LSD, special rear cover and heavy duty driveshafts.
BRAKES
300mm discs and AP racing calipers front (new) and rear, bias pedal box with dash adjuster, hydraulic handbrake all lines in aeroquippe.
SUSPENSION
Front struts fabricated by pilbeam as fitted to GP A astra, rose jointed alloy top mounts, fully rosejointed pilbeam bottom arms(GP A astra). Rear arms modified with rose joints to give full camber / castor adjustment and bilstein coilovers. 2.5 turn ZF power rack with heavy duty pilbeam steering arms(GP A astra). Currently in tarmac spec with gravel springs/dampers available.
INTERIOR
ATL bag tank with twin pumps all lines aeroquippe, Recaro carbon/kevlar seats as new (£1200 each in Demon Tweeks catalogue) sabelt 6 point 3" aircraft belts, carbon dash with stack programmable tacho and shift light, roof vents, carbon door cards, OMP steering wheel and alloy co-driver's footrest, MOMO helmet net, terratrip with remote speed display, peltor intercom with nokia phone interface, professional wiring loom with ETA breakers and relays, Varley red top race battery complete with andersen jump plug, plumbed in mechanically fired zero 2000 extinguisher and hand held.
WHEELS TYRES
8 of 8x18 raceline wheels (pictured on car) complete with assorted part worn pirelli moulded slicks. 12 of 7x16 compomotive wheels with 2 alternative patterns of dunlop gravel tyres.
SUMMARY
This is a fully sorted competitive rally car in stunning condition, it has had 2 top five finishes in the last year and led Eastwood and district motor clubs Phoenix stages rally after the first stage on 22/3/2008 a rally blessed with an entry of 3 metro 6R4's a WRC imprezza and several escort cosworth's some in WRC guise, please check the times on the web site www.eastwoodmotorclub.co.uk/ (the run was spoiled on stage 2 when we were punted off by another car which slightly deranged the rear suspension)
The car is completely ready to rally with all relevent documents and is NOT affected by the new eligibility rules as it is based on the homologated calibra turbo and the engine is production based.
